Bridge the bet at 5/1
Camas Bridge has shaped as if crying out for step up in trip and makes plenty of appeal at 5/1 in the 1.25 at Uttoxeter.
Emma Lavelle’s five-year-old finished a highly promising second to Tim easterby’s useful Trustan Times in his only start in points, and really caught the eye when finishing fourth of 10 to Destroyer Deployed on his bumper debut.
He travelled really strongly for much of the race before weakening two from home, and although eventually beaten 21lengths he ran much better than his finishing position suggests.
The gelding then made his debut over hurdles in a hot contest at Fontwell won by the very promising Allthekingshorses, where after being held up at the rear he made good progress before weakening two from home to finish 6th of 14.
He was not knocked about at all once his chance had gone, and looked the type who would improve greatly for the experience.
To my eyes he has been shaping as if he needs a stamina test to be seen at his best, and today’s 3m journey looks ideal.
With the Lavelle team in flying form it would be no surprise to see him take this before going on to better things, and in what doesn’t look the strongest of contests he rates a solid bet.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Camas Bridge (5/1 bet365 – BOG)
8/1 Prankster worth a punt
Original Prankster looks potentially well treated in the 2.35 at Uttoxeter and good value at 8/1 to strike for the in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies team.
The six-year-old showed plenty of promise in a couple of decent novice hurdles to suggest he was capable of winning races, and was running a huge race on his handicap debut at Kempton when coming to grief two from home.
Although he would not have got near the runaway winner Pere Blanc that day, the way he was staying on suggested that he would have finished a highly creditable second in what was a pretty decent contest of its type.
That run came off a mark of 100, and although he failed to sparkle in his next two starts he starts this season on a reduced mark of 97 and has been given a nice break to freshen up.
His handler has proved time and time again that he is capable of readying one to go in after a lay-off, and looks to have found the ideal contest for his charge to make a winning reappearance.
At 8/1 he looks overpriced and cracking each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Original Prankster (8/1 Boylesports – BOG)
