Man United v Galati – Champions League Preview

Man United are as short as 1/12 to beat Galati in tnought’s Champions League clash at Old Trafford (7.45pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 2) and it should be a case of just how many goals they put past their Romanian opponents.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side were far from impressive when winning the first leg against the Steelworkers 2-0 but back on home soil they are expected to run riot and send out a message to the rest of Europe.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last nine CL home games (six wins, three draws), whereas their opponents are yet to notch a point in the competition.

No surprise then that United are virtually unbackable tonight, but for those that do like to play odds-on shots the 4/9 on offer with Unibet about them in the half-time/full-time double result market looks incredible value as they are as short as 2/7 with Victor Chandler.

However for those looking for an interest in the game without getting too heavily involved I am going to suggest that ther could be some value in the anytime goal scorer market.

Wayne Rooney is the leading English goal scorer in the Champions League (26 goals) and will be top of many people’s list to net tonight. However at a top priced 8-15 to score during the 90 minutes (he is as short as 2/5 in a place) he looks plenty short enough to me and I am happy to give him a swerve.

Far better value in my eyes is the standout 11/4 on offer with Sky Bet for Ryan Giggs to get on the scoresheet.

Giggs has found the net in 16 of his 17 seasons playing in this competition and seems to come to life on this particular stage.

I would expect the manager to give him a start tonight, and given that he is as short as 15/8 in a place the 11/4 on offer with Sky Bet looks too big to resist.
