Professor Plum a tasty punt at 10s on handicap debut

Professor Plum looks on a potentially handy mark on handicap debut in the 1.10 at Mussleburgh today and worth and each-way punt at 10/1.

Rose Dobbin’s gelding looked a useful prospect when winning both his starts in bumpers in 2014, and in the last of those at this venue battled on well to beat Double W’s = who is now rated 128 pver hurdles and 139 over fences – by a short head.

Professor Plum also shaped well on hurdling debut when runner-up to Apache Prince in a nine-runner affair ay Kelso in April 2016, rallying after running green to be beaten 6 lengths.

The front two pulled 18 lengths clear of the third home Master Dee and that one has won three times since to be rated 133 over hurdles and 145 over fences.

Professor Plum went on to finish third next time up at Kelso but has subsequently spent a lengthy 455 days on the sidelines.

He now makes his handicap debut off a mark of just 109 and that looks exploitable judged on the aforementioned runs if ready to go at the first time of asking.

The stable has also enjoyed a couple of winners of late and with Lorcan Murtagh taking off anotehr 8lb with his claims Progessor Plum looks weighted to run a big race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Professor Plum (10/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
