Silver Alliance improved for the step up in trip when scoring last time out and is strongly fancied at 9/1 to follow-up in the finale at Leicester (5.40).
Walter Swinburn’s charge looked the type to do well in handicaps when winning at Wolverhampton on his second start as a juvenile but failed to cut any ice this season before being upped to 1m 1f and landing his first handicap success at the Midland’s track 18 days ago.
He stayed on really strongly to beat Yourinthewill despite being carried left inside the final furlong and in my book was value for more than the winning margin suggests.
The handicapper has reacted by putting him up 5lb to a mark of 72, but given that he remains unexposed at today’s trip and started the season off on a mark of 76 there is every reason to believe it will not stop him going in again.
His handler also has a 33.33% strike rate at the track with his runners in the last 12 months and a 50% strike rate when teaming up with Jimmy Quinn who gave Silver alliance a peach of a ride last time out and is back in the saddle this afternoon.
Everything looks in place for a massive run, and with bookmakers paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4, the 9/1 on offer looks terrific each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Silver Alliance (9/1 Coral totesport)
