Storm Survivor gets the step up in trip he has been crying out for in the 2.35 at Folkestone and is of major interest at 11/4.
Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding has caught the eye in all five starts over hurdles, and was not knocked about when finishing seventh of 12 to Creswell Crusader on his handicap debut over 2m 4f at Fontwell earlier this month.
He made a couple of costly mistakes that day and his rider was not hard on him once it was clear that he would not be playing a hand in the finish.
The five-year-old had previously stayed on well in some decent novice hurdles to suggest that stamina was his forte, and his shrewd connections look to have plotted him up to land a touch now tackling 2m 6f for the first time.
There is little doubt in my mind that he has the potential to be far better than his current handicap mark of 100, and this looks a weak race which won’t take much winning.
He is the least exposed runner in the field, and it would be non surprise to see him win this with a bit too spare before going on to further success.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Storm Survivor (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
