Vale Of Iron value at 10/1

Vale Of Iron looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth siding with at 10/1 in the 5.20 at Lingfield today.

John Best’s charge is yet to get his head in front in 14 starts, but has made the frame on six occasions.

His best form has come on the all-weather, where he has been placed four times in six starts, and his run three starts back at Kempton when second of 12 to Rocket Punch in a class 4 contest of a mark of 67 reads well in this contest.

The three-year-old made good headway from the rear two from home to take up the running inside the last and kept on well to be beaten just 3/4 of a length when headed close home, and finished 3 lengths in front of the fifth home American Artist who has won three times since and is now rated 90 on the all-weather.

That gives the form a strong look, despite the fact that Vale Of Iron was receiving 10lb from American Artist, and suggest he is nicely treated in this lower grade class 5 affair off just 1lb higher (68).

Vale Of iron backed that up with another solid run to finish second at Epsom, and altough disappointing last time out at Sandown he pulled far too much for gis own good and is definitely worth another chance.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Vale Of Iron (10/1 bet365, Paddy Power, Sky Bet – BOG)
