Capard King has slipped to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 7/2 in the 2.30 at Ludlow today now fitted with the cheekpieces for the first time.

Jonjo O’Neill’s charge landed a class 3 novices handicap chase ar Southwell in November 2015 off a mark of 135 and went on to score at Southwell back in April of last year off 136.

He was also far from disgraced first time up this season when fourth of 15 to What A Moment in a competitive amateur riders’ contest under today’s rider off 135 but then subsequently failed to build on that effort in two starts.

However, those runs have come in class 2 company and tha assessor has been quick to cut him plenty of slack.

Capard King duly put in a much improved effort last time out when a 3 3/4 length tghird over course and distance is now able to race off 1lb lower.

His current mark of 126 is 10lb lower than when last successful and it gives him a huge shout at the weights especially with his young promising rider taking off another 7lb with his claim and if the new headgear has the desired effect.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Capard King (7/2 generally available – use BOG firms)
