Compadre looks on a potentially handy mark and worth siding with at 7/1 in the 5.05 at Uttoxeter today now stepped up in trip.

Jonjo O’Neill’s charge looked a smart prospect when scoring on debut in a bumper at Bangor, pulling clear to beat Wild West Wind, who is now rated 138 over fences, by eight lengths despite showing distinct signs of greeness.

He then found things too hot to handle when 17th of 29 to Ballyandy in the Grade 1 Champion Bumpoer at the Cheltenham Festival, but the fact that conncetions ran him in that contest suggests he is held in high regard.

Compadre has since posted a coupel of solid runs over hurdles and caughet the eye on his second starts over fehbces last month when a staying on third over 2m 1f at Market Rasen after getting outpaced three from home.

Judged on that run he could have more to offer now stepped up to 3m off what looks a workable maklr of 116.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Compadre (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
