Hollow Blue Sky will appreciate the step back up in trip in the 1.05 at Cheltenham today and rates a solid bet at 4/1.

Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding was in good form back in the spring, easily winning a 2m 5f handicap chase at Huntingdon on soft ground by 8 lengths off a mark of 108 before posting a cracking effort to finish third of 19 to Streams Of Whisky over 2m 6f in a class 3 contest at Haydock of 117.

The seven-year-old then posted a series of solid efforts to be placed three times off marks of 117, 122 and 122 and was far from disgraced last time out over an inadequate 2m at the venue when sixth of 19 to Bold Henry in a very competitive class 2 contest off 121.

The step back up to 2m 5f this afternoon is sure to suit, and he now drops back down into class 3 company off a mark of 120.

That makes him look well-treated on the pick of his form, especially with Ryan Hatch in the saddle whose claim takes another 3lb of his back.

The stable are also in good form having saddled four winners and three runners-up in the past week, and this looks a great opportunity for Hollow Blue Sky to get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Hollow Blue Sky (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
