Anna Nerium is a 7f specialist and looks worth a bet at 4/1 to land the spoils in the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster today (13.50).

Richard Hannon’s filly is three form four over the trip and her four career wins have come on ground which has been good, good-to-soft and soft.

She had some smart form as a juvenile and was impressive on seaonal reapperance at Newmakret when easily landing the European Free Handicap at Newmarket by three lengths.

Anna Nerium was then far from disgraced when a six length seventh of 15 to Billesdon BrookThe daughter of in the fillies Classic at headquaters, the Group 1 1000 Guineas run over a mile. She backed that up with a solid secon in a Group 3 at Epsom before never being able to get competitive when eighth to Alpha Centauri in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes over 1m at Royal Ascot.

She was then given a break and relished the drop back to 7f when running on strongly to beat Dream Of Dreams by 3/4 of a length in the Group 3 Supreme Stakes at Goodwood 19 days ago.

That career-best success earned Anna Nerium an official rating of 109, the highest in this field. She is rated 1lb above Laugh Aloud and also gets a handy 2lb from that rival who heads the betting.

So at the odds on offer she looks decent value in this given that she has her optimum conditions.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Anna Nerium (4/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
