Robot Boy has shaped as if as good as ever in his two starts this season and makes plenty of appeal at 6/1 in the 4.35 at Ascot today.

David Barron’s gelding won the consolation race for Scottish Sprint Cup in 2014 before following up in good style at Newcastle, and got back to winning ways on his second outing last season when readily betting Normal Equilibrium by a 1 length at Newbury off a mark of 103.

Robot Boy went on to finish an excellent 3 1/2 length eighth of 18 to Goldream in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, and backed that up with a solid fourth of 18 to Double Up at this venue off a mark of 106.

The six-year-old is now able rating of 97, 6lb lower than when last sucessful, and comes into the race having built on a promising reappearance run when sixth in the Socctish Sprint Cup to be denied just a head by Royal Birth over course and distance 13 days ago.

Robot Boy araguably did too much to soon in the latter before chinned on the post and now meets the winner on 1lb better terms, and it was an effort which suggested his time was near.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Robot Boy (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
