Duke Of Firenze has become well-treated and looks worth a punt at 9/1 in the 5.20 at Newmarket today.

David Griffith’s nine-year-old was last successful in a competive 12-runner affair at York 14 months ago when scoring by a neck off 103.

He backed that up with a fine head third of 19 to Caspian Prince in the Epsom Dash off a rating of 107.

Duke Of Firenze also ran a blinder on hsi final start last year when fourth to Battaash in the Group 1 Prix De l’Abbaye off an official rating of 104.

He is now able to race in this class 2 handicap off a reduced mark of 99 – his lowest rating in nearly two years.

It makse him a massive player of the pick of his form and although yet to trouble the judge in five starts this season he ran well when sixth of 20 in the Epsom Dash and wasn’t disgraced when beaten 4 lengths into seventh behind Muthmir in a Listed contest at Haydock.

This looks easier and he looks well worth an each-way wager at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Duke Of Firenze (9/1 bet365 – BOG, enhanced place terms 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
