Jaunty Journey has some strong form to his name and looks good value at 11/2 in the 2.45 at Towcester today.

Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding is is a five-time winner over hurdles/fences, with his last win over the smaller obstacles coming at Newton Abbot back in April where he easily  beat Brunette’sonly by 3 1/2 lengths off a mark of 100.

He went on to finish a solid runner-up to stable companion Sybarite at Perth off 108, and the winner has gone on to land a comepetitive 17-runner affair at Cheltenham and finished a decent sixth of 16 to Aubusson in the valuable fixed brush hurdle contest at Haydock yesterday.

That is strong form in the context of this contest, and Jaunty Journey gets into it off just 2lb higher (110) having run really when on seasonal reapperance at Aintree last month when third of 16 to the progressive Parish Business.

The winner, who was giving the selection 5lb, is now rated 130 and gave the form a boost whne running very well to finish runner-up to the very promising Fletchers Flyer in a decent novice hurdle at Sandown yesterday.

To me Jaunty Journey looks wll-treated off 110 in this on the aforementioned runs, especially as he has won over hurdles off 125 in the past.

The soft ground will also hold no fears, and the 11-year-old is the type who will relish what is going to be a real  slog over today’s 3m trip.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Jaunty Journey (11/2 bet365, Betfred, Boylesports, Ladbrokes – BOG)
