Totally Magic has hinted at ability in maidens and looks worth siding with at 12/1 on handicap debut in the 2.20 at Doncaster today.

Richard Whittaker’s charge has had three quick starts, and caught the eye on debut at Catterick on May 5 when very slowly away before making late headway to finish a 5 3/4 length fifth of 11 to Our Time Will Come.

The filly finished 3 lengths behind the fourth home Motboydaniel, and that one went on to score on handicap debut off a mark of 72.

Totally Magic was then not knocked about when dropped back to 6f and finishing fourth to My Will at Pontefract where she finished 2 1/2 lengths behind a horse rated 76 going into the race.

She was the slowly away last time out at Beverley when before mnaking some late headway under tender handling to finish fifth, and finished 2 3/4 lengths behind a 75-rated rival.

Those runs have all come with a space of jusr over a month, and Totally Magic has clearly been brought along with handicaps in mind.

Judged on those efforts an opening mark of just 62 looks very workable, and it would be no surprise to see Totally Magic  step up significantly on what she has shown so far now going down the handicap route.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Totally Magic (12/1 bet365, Boylesports, Coral, William Hill – BOG)
